Squam Lake Waterfront Homes
Squam Lake is searchable as one body of water and functions as one body of water. However, for those who live here there are essentially two lakes connected by a canal. Squam is located to the north and Little Squam is to the South. Squam is our second largest lake and made famous when Kate and Henry filmed “On Golden Pond” here. It has a length of 3.7 miles and a width of 3.4 miles with many islands to explore, but be careful—lots of rocks in this lake making it very challenging to navigate!
Owning property on either lake kind of puts you in an exclusive league as the cost of admission is pretty high. Both bodies of water are heavily protected by a very active conservation groups such as the Squam Lake Conservation Society and Squam Lakes Association. Little Squam is 1.7 miles long & .6 miles wide. Personal watercraft are banned on both Squam and Little Squam.
Make sure to check out Walter’s Basin, a great restaurant and pub at the channel between Big and Little Squam.
